LDN Is Our Home: #ReasonsToStayInLondon
I know the last thing you want to be thinking of before Christmas is the imminent UCAS application you have to fill out. Or maybe you have yet to even decide to go to university. Whether university is looming around the corner or you still have another few years to go, it's never a bad idea to do as thorough research as possible. As a recent Chingford Foundation School (and sixth form) student I know exactly what you’re going through and how tough it can be.
It's a huge decision. 3, possibly 4, years of your life that will have an important role to play in your future career. When deciding what university I wanted to go to, I considered many across the country, like Surrey or Brighton. But I couldn't shake the idea that as a media studies student it would seem crazy to leave this amazing capital we get to call home. It's the hub of media, as well as many other fields, in the UK, arguably the world. Many companies have their HQ's in London, meaning there are plenty of opportunities for valuable work experience during your years at university right on your doorstop.
London is a fantastic city and studying here is a privilege. Getting to travel through the city on a daily basis means always being surrounded by culture, business and inspiration. We frequently get experienced individuals and guest lecturers from internationally successful companies who take time out from their busy schedules to come in and speak to us, as it's easy for them to do so as our university is just a quick tube ride away. As a second year student, I can say that uni so far has been an incredible experience (minus a few too many essays). On my course -Public Relations and Advertising- many students have travelled half way across the world in order to get to study in our home and love it!
I've created a blog: www.ldnisourhome.wordpress.com for more information, as well as first hand experiences of what it's like to continue your studies in London. I'm also on Twitter and Instagram at: @Ldnisourhome
If you have ANY questions, whether it be about my experience, what uni I go to, what my course is like etc, or about university life in general, or the application process, please feel free to tweet or direct message me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/ldnisourhome), or drop me an email at [email protected]
Thank you very much and have a lovely Christmas!
