Fashion Week Flashback: Fantastic Four! 2013
As we all know (and should have loved) LFW touched down in London town on the 13th September – 17th September this year. The week was kicked off by Bora Aksu celebrating his 10th year in fashion; he was followed by likes of Vivienne Westwood highlighting the middle of LFW not only with her vibrant hair colour but also with her political stand point showcased through her impacting Red Label. And although most people had been worn out by the end of the week, the same couldn’t be said for the final show, Haizen Wang, who was absolutely stunning and is someone who I will be speaking more of later on…
Due to the lengthy nature of fashion week and the fact that it visits New York, London, Milan and Paris back to back… Talking about my favourites from each fashion capital would take up some considerable time so instead I’ve decided to give you a rundown of my fantastic four favourites from fashion week, I hope you enjoy!

Alexander Wang:
Well, if you didn’t know by now you should know that Alexander Wang is one of my favourite designers and he’s managed to impress once again. Having two soundtracks play simultaneously to see the reaction of his equally split audience, Wang admits after his show that he “wanted to have fun with it!” Whilst not straying from his usual sombre pallet and staying true to himself, Wang has managed to create effortless pieces for SS/14 that every women will want in her wardrobe. From boxy, alternative shapes and sharp, cropped structures to swingy elongated shirts, Wang has managed to create a masterpiece that really has something for everyone. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!

Pierre Balmain:
French designer Pierre Balmain really caught my eye this fashion week through his artistic spin on his SS/14 collection. After not really experiencing Balmain’s work before, stumbling across this shoot was like a breath of fresh air amongst the other runways. Having a very European feel heavily influenced by his French roots is something that really stuck out to me in this shoot, as monochrome was given sexily inspired French ‘touch-up.’ Also, I’d just like to point out my love for roll necks and this was probably the reason why I loved this collection so much. I really believe that Balmain’s vision can be seen through his work and reflects that of a true artist. J’aime!

Haizhen Wang:
It must be something in the name… However, new to the scene (sort of); Mr Haizhen Wang, winner of the young designer’s show, closed LFW beautifully. Despite having the same last name and a similar colour pallet to Alexander Wang, Haizhen makes his collection more targeted through his use of high shine leathers and simplistic cuts to create a very uniformed runway. Just like everyone else, I must admit that I do love a bit of leather and I really enjoyed Wang’s use of it in his collection. I often find that high shine can sometimes look a bit cheap but I think that Wang has mastered his craft with such expertise that the use of high shine in his collection was my favourite element. I think that it gave the runway an almost futuristic and forward feel which I strongly believe is representational of Haizhen’s future in the fashion game… Alexander better watch his back!

Adidas by Stella McCartney:
So I’ve decided to save the best till last, and no doubt this McCartney and Adidas collaboration was my hands down favourite collection for SS/14! This collection should have literally been named after me because it’s me all over! I’d happily walk head to toe in sports gear next summer if it means I’ll be dressed in this. As you’ve probably figured sports luxe is still going strong and was my favourite trend this summer which is why I’m so happy! The warm subtle pallet of pastels from this shoot adds a new dimension to something we have already experienced before which is what I love about it. Even down to the creativity behind the photo shoot is something that is so aesthetically pleasing that there’s not one photo of this collection that I didn’t want to have in my wardrobe! Hats off to Ms McCartney for making my clothes addiction just that bit worse!
