Coachella Couture Summer 2014
America’s answer to Glastonbury, Coachella, marks the start of festival season of 2014 all around the globe. With crowds of up to 90,000 people gathering at Palm Springs there were bound to be some quirky outfits on display. Coachella queen and style icon Vanessa Hudgens goes to town with this printed bralet and sarong combo complete with lashings of boho-inspired jewellery and cute round specs.
Then there was former Disney star, Bella Thorne, who stood out from the crowd whilst wearing a mashup of trends. You can’t beat a bit of fringing, coupled with some flowers in the hair, for instant festival chic. The whole look worked well with her stand out tan, made more prominent by her white nail varnish and non-existent makeup. Being a costume designer herself I would always expect great things to come from 50s inspired Dita Von Teese. Dita’s signature red lips made an appearance alongside high waisted print trousers that showed off her curves.
Keeping up her appearance of tiny stage outfits queen of Brit pop star Ellie Goulding stepped onto the stage in an all black matching two-piece. Accessorised with a pair of ankle boots, metallic necklace and the Coachella must-have; a bindi. Ellie looked naturally stunning! HAIM looked effortlessly cool in their matching shades and ankle boots, it was no surprise they managed to pull off a coherent look. With the same haircut and the same accessories its unusual the trio remain edgy and individual. Much spectacle has been made about Kate Bosworth choice of outfit. Fighting the battle against age Kate pulled off the girly grunge style she had set out to conquer. Alongside the chunky flatform sandals and chocker her cut out dress adds an element of femininity to the rocker look. Now, I would like to officially crown Lana Del Rey as the ultimate festival fashion icon. Nodding to her love of the 60s aesthetic, Lana took to the stage in a bright floral mini dress. Lana remained Young and Beautiful even whilst missing a pair of shoes.
From what the celebs wore, to what real people wore, to the trends I hope will fade faster than your tan! I hope that I have given you some fashion inspiration for the likes of V Festival and Reading. This major music festival may be over for another year but the boho chic inspired outfits still live on.
