Christmas Concert Article 2013

This year’s Christmas Concert at Chingford Foundation School (10th of December) was a smashing hit. There were more people that attended this concert than last year’s concert. The acts that were included in this concert were: CFS Orchestra, Junior Guitar Ensemble, Choir, Drum Ensemble, Senior Guitar Ensemble, Headfirst. Soloists included: Nicholas Eves, Helen Cordina, Tabby Rodney, Georgia Stratton & Traonne Francis, Sky Saron Wermeling & Fran Oliva. The comedy duo, introducing the acts, were  Merlyn De Melo and “the awkward young man” Ben Haggett. With a music department currently under construction, Mr Butters and Miss Vines - a brand new team to CFS - certainly had their work cut out for them. But needless to say, they rehearsed, directed, and delivered a wonderful evening, which everyone agreed was a huge success. The main hall was in full swing, and was festive for the Christmas Concert. After several weeks of preparation and hard work, the pupils eventually pulled off an amazing and outstanding concert (without making anyone’s ears bleed!). In particular, the Choir sang perhaps louder than ever before, resulting in a lively concert.

Well done to all students who performed in the music department concert Tuesday 10th December – what a fantastic evening! Highlights included our choir and orchestra, the drum and guitar ensembles – and of course Merlyn De Melo & Ben Haggett deserve a special mention for introducing each item with such wit! Thank you to Mr Butters, Miss Vines, Mr. Ash for being an amazing technician, Jack Homer for organising the lighting, Mr. Austin for leading the guitar ensembles, Michael Stone, Linda Court, the students and staff that helped make all this possible. Hope you come along next time to see the next concert; you wouldn’t want to miss it!

We are so proud of you all – we cannot wait until the next concert!
