Candy Floss
By M.D.
The cling-on crystals,
The spun, sticky sugar,
clinging and spreading to the sides,
twirling and whirling to produce that sickly feeling,
Makes you feel pain,
But.
You keep coming back for more.
Sweetness,
Happiness.
Sensations you crave,
That sickly feeling continues
But.
You keep coming back for more.
Soon the taste doesn’t taste great,
Your mind and heart wants more.
Your body feels the pain,
Till you can’t force yourself to grab more.
But.
You keep coming back for more.
The attractive, soft dreamy appearance,
Which remind you of your childhood dreams,
Fluffy pink clouds and candy lands.
Don’t appeal to you as much as it did back then,
The reminders of past mistakes,
Minor or major,
The little details appear,
Sweet sensations vanished one bite at a time,
Every bite the pain grows,
You try to force yourself to stop,
But.
You keep coming back for more.
You crave and thrive off these sensations,
Childlike qualities emerge,
Feelings of euphoria and joy deep inside of you,
Losing all inhabitations
You try to force yourself to stop,
But.
You keep coming back for more.
Until,
The pain increases,
Your body’s been damaged beyond repair,
While your mind and heart want it,
Your body knows when enough is enough,
But.
You keep coming back for more.
You cry,
Tears of weakness exposed,
Your greed causes you pain,
Greed for happiness,
Greed for childhood feelings to return,
Greed for the sweet feeling,
To return.
But.
You keep coming back for more.
Your body tells you no.
Your heart and mind say yes.
Which will you choose?
As the pain dominates,
Again,
And again
And again.
The spun, sticky sugar,
clinging and spreading to the sides,
twirling and whirling to produce that sickly feeling,
Makes you feel pain,
But.
You keep coming back for more.
Sweetness,
